Here are the 5 benefits of self imposed business limitations
I use a kitchen timer to time myself writing and studying of writers i admire. I set the timer for 30 minutes and just write, that constraint forces me to focus, see patterns and get creative within the time allocated to the task. What it does is that…..
The constraint or limitation of time forces me to do the work within the time ring i put myself in. Stick with me as we go deeper into the world of unstoppable productivity!
Parkinson’s law states that “ Work will fill the time allocated to it” If I had set my timer for 5 hours of writing i will write, if i set my timer for 30 minutes block i will still write and here’s why
The task ( writing, sales call, family, etc) doesn’t matter what matters is that you TRAP yourself inside a time ROOM that you won’t let yourself out of until the task is done or…..
You won’t trust yourself and that will affect your personal identity as a person who starts and doesn’t finish things. This limitation will help you…..
Remove distractions
Ditch Excuses
Address 2nd order consequences of not doing the task. By that i mean, if you don’t make sales calls you won’t have money that’s a first order consequence, now because you don’t have money your family won’t eat that’s a second order consequence
EXAMPLES
Stephen king the multi millionaire author of 65 novels writes for 4 hours a day
Grant Cardone the multi billionaire real estate teacher makes his sales staff do sales role play for 21 minutes every work day. This is part of the mindset module on the ‘How to achieve your sales target webinar” I am doing check out details How to achieve your sales target in 60 days or less
How to build your own constraint
Choose the activity: sales call, content creation, staff meeting, etc
Choose a time to get it done
Set a visible timer
Do the activity within the time frame
Repeat the process
This is how mastery is built. Bruce Lee said “I am not afraid of the man that has 1,000 kicks, I am afraid of the man that has mastered one kick a thousand times”
The internet compensates mastery.
