Jeff Bezos founder of Amazon a $2.3 trillion dollar business was at the ‘Dealbook Summit’ Recently and I took notes on his talk which I taught was fascinating here they are

1. Risk and Opportunity

   • "It is generally human nature to overestimate risk and underestimate opportunities."

   • The risks you perceive are often smaller than they appear, and the opportunities may be far larger.

2. The Power of Thinking Big

   • Thinking small is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Aim high and think expansively.

   • Bezos recounted his early days: "To raise the first million dollars in seed capital for Amazon, I had to take 60 meetings—40 said no, but 20 said yes."

3. The World Today

   • "The world is so interesting right now; we’re in multiple golden ages at once."

   • Innovations in AI and other fields are creating unprecedented opportunities.

4. AI’s Potential

   • AI is like electricity: a horizontal application that can power countless innovations.

   • Bezos shared, "We are working on a thousand applications right now."

5. Wealth and Impact

   • Bezos reflected on Amazon’s success: "Amazon’s market cap is $2.3 trillion today, and I personally own $200 billion."

   • However, he emphasized: "There should be a list of how much wealth you’ve helped people make, not just the wealth you’ve created."

6. Leadership and Decision-Making

   • "Big leaders must do a few things: Identify the big ideas, enforce tough execution of those ideas, and grow the next generation of leaders."

   • Bezos encourages dissent: "I always ask, 'Is there any dissenting opinion?'"

7. Crisp Documents, Messy Meetings

   • Bezos has a unique leadership style: "I want crisp documents and messy meetings."

8. Building Sustainable Systems

   • "If your company is dependent on you, you’ve failed. Build a company that is dependent on systems, not on you."
