What are you grateful to God about?
Spring is here with all her glory. The sun is out, reminding me of the kindness of God.
I brew a great cup of filtered coffee, pop out my journal and start my gratitude journaling process, just as I’ve done every morning for 13 years.
I write about the things I am grateful to God for.
I write about my hopes and dreams in reverse, using inversion thinking.
I address my shadows—both dark and bright.
I reflect on my actions and recalibrate myself to see if I am living by my values and standards.
My favorite prompt for my values is “ In what way will I live my value today?” One of my core values is RESPECT for others and myself. So I’ll say one way to live that value today will be to send that invoice or report to the client so they don’t remind me again because if they do they’ll end up disrespecting me.
I encourage everyone, if you can, to try gratitude journaling. It has helped my mental health, helped me confront my dark emotions, and celebrate my wins, joys, and the people that matter to me.
Here are 5 journaling prompts to help you get started:
1. What are three things you’re grateful for today, and why?
2. If everything in your life was exactly how you wanted it to be, what would your day look like?
3. What emotions are you feeling right now? Name them without judgment.
4. What’s one small win from this week that you’re proud of?
5. Are your current actions aligned with your core values? Where can you make adjustments?
