So they took your friend to the front seat and left you at the back! SORRY
If you don’t dress well before a sales meeting it may negatively affect you, because the client may equate ‘not looking the part’ to incompetence and sometimes untrustworthiness.

THE HALO EFFECT
According to Nielsen Norman Group “ The "halo effect" is when one trait of a person or thing is used to make an overall judgment of that person or thing. It supports rapid decisions, even if biased ones.”
This means that if you dress well the client will automatically believe that you can deliver on the promise of your product.
This concept was first studied in the 1920s by Edward Thorndike who observed that in military evaluations officers who were ranked high in some qualities let’s say their appearance, tend to also get high ranks in other areas. Also, officers that were ranked low in some areas, were also ranked low in other areas.
I call it ‘PERCEPTION SPREAD’ This is because people tend to spread their perceptions of us in one specific aspect of our lives to other aspects of our lives.
