OBAMA, PROBABILITY, SALES
It’s September 19, 1995, and the 44th President of the United States Of America is running as a Senator in Chicago.
It is a requirement in Chicago politics that before a candidate gets on the ballot he needs 700 registered voters who live in his district t sign a petition. And these signatures are analog, so they must be legible and linked to a local address.
Before President Obama, swung into action his team gave him the sales lesson of his life. They informed him that they won’t go for the 700 required signatures, rather they will go for 4 times the required physically signed signatures which is 2,800 people they’ll reach door to door to sign.
This is because a lot of the signatures will not be clear and a ton of the addresses will be wrong and if there is any mistake he may not be in the ballot box which means nobody can vote for him. He listened!

Obama is a lawyer he didn’t allow pride or shame to prevent him from going from door to door to get voters, so why are you ashamed to sell your own dreams?
THE LAW OF AVERAGES, THE LAW OF LARGE NUMBERS
The law of averages states that the more people we talk to the higher the probability of making a sale. Put differently the law of large numbers state that as the number of trials increases the actual probability approaches the expected value.
That’s the principle or mental model Obama and his team used to win the election.
Sales is a probability game.
APPLICATION
If your sales target is N1,000,000 for instance and you need 10 clients to pay you N1,000,000 each, by the law of averages you should be emailing, calling, texting, and whatsapping 100 people.
