Netflix series you must watch: CHEF'S TABLE, ARNOLD, & BAND OF BROTHERS
Happy Father's Day to every man out there. If you're a father or you are taking care of kids that are probably not directly yours, but you're feeding and nurturing them physically, spiritually and mentally, you are a father.
So Happy Father's Day! I am a father. I've got three children. And I know the enormity and beauty of having children. It is such a privilege to be a father. So I trust God that you will get better at parenting.
Parenting is an ongoing journey that requires patience, learning, and a commitment to growing and developing your skills over time. We never accomplish our ideal of becoming great parents.
But that doesn't mean we should stop striving towards them. To illustrate this point, let me tell you about the inspiring documentary I recently watched on Netflix. However, this documentary inspired me to keep striving towards my goals and aspirations.
CHEF’S TABLE
It's called "Chef's Table" and it's about the best chefs in the world. The documentary showed me that nothing is impossible if I remain focused and determined.
The episode i recently saw with my 3 children after lunch was about the PIZZA INDUSTRY. So they were interviewing a guy that they consider to be the best pizza maker in the world. It's in Phoenix, Arizona, in America. And there was something the guy said that interested me strongly.
He said what makes the difference in success is the ingredients. It is what you put in that you will get out of. Garbage in, garbage out. So if you put great ingredients in, you will get a great meal.
This pizza guy is so committed to this philosophy that he started planting his own ingredients in his farm so as to increase the probability of a great crop. He takes such pride in the quality of his ingredients that he has even taken the initiative to grow them himself, so that his pizzas are always made with the freshest and most flavorful produce. He believes this is the only way to ensure he can provide the freshest and most flavorful pizza to his customers.
Because he believes it is the quality of the ingredient that determine the tastiness of his meal
The inputs ultimately determine the output. Therefore, the importance of taking the right kind of input to get the desired output cannot be overstated. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the inputs you are putting in are of the highest quality and quantity if you want to achieve the desired output. So that is it.
ARNOLD
The second thing I learned this week was from the series ARNOLD. A documentary series about Actor, Politician and Bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger. When I heard him say that his documentary was coming out on the fourth of June, I quickly renewed my Netflix subscription because i truly enjoyed reading his book, ‘Total Recall’
In the series he was talking about the fact that he had a vision board in his room when he was growing up, because he wanted to be like the strongest man in the world. He had pictures and images of very bulky and muscular men in his room. And he became that he became that.
He has a serious approach to everything, here is a line from the book”
“My preparation for going against SERGIO didn’t stop at the gym. I bought a movie projector i assembled a whole collection of his performances and i watched those films over and over. I rehearsed and visualized it over and over” Hahaha
He also said, when his agent called him about his first movie role, he told the agent that I don't want to be an actor, I want to be a star.
I was happy i was seeing the scene with my children because it created a teaching moment. I told them to Set high standards for their lives.
I found out something that if you set your standards high the world tends to pay for the standards that you set, let me read a quote to you.
“I worked for a menials hire only to learn, dismayed that any wage I had asked of life, life would have willingly paid” Napoleon Hill
I read it again this afternoon, when I got back from church. And I thought that was profound. I thought that was powerful. So you want to be careful with the kinds of demands that you make of life because it is what you demand of life that life will give to you.
All right. So that's the third thing that I learned this week.
There's something that I learned from this book.
The third thing I learned this week was from a book called
BAND OF BROTHERS
BAND OF BROTHERS by Stephen Ambrose. The book is about the second world war that ended in September 1945. I had never read a book about the war before. I bought it from a secondhand bookstore , where I buy books from. I like secondhand bookstores a lot, because you see a lot of cool books. And besides they’re cheap. It’s a fascinating book on how soldiers are trained. And you get to appreciate the soldiers that the fought for our freedom.
It is important that you appreciate soldiers for the great work that they have done to protect your liberty and the freedom that we're enjoying today. Because as you enjoy the freedom, there are certain people around the world that want to take away that freedom.
In page 46, He says once a week and they went out on a two or three day exercise. This is their role play or practice sessions to teach them the mechanics of war and master the fundamentals.
I believe in role play or practice a lot. I recently challenged members of my whatsapp group to call each other and pretend to be customers for the purpose of increasing their skill of selling sales. The result was powerful here are two testimonials one from a guy who made N100,000,000 and another who got a contract to manage the social media page of a company of the back of what i taught them
Give my whatsapp group a try! It is N15,000 or $32 for 3 MONTHS. Here is the link to join: Sales Factory Whatsapp group
THE TERRAIN DETERMINE THE TACTICS.
He said you should study the terrain and let the terrain be the one that is dictating your tactics and not your desires.
So your terrain is your niche. Your terrain is the city where you operate your business, the social media platform that you operate at. It is a terrain that should determine the tactics that you use. Not the other way around.
I hope you found this useful
