How to sell, persuade and influence people to get what you want
Terrence Mckenna once said, "The secret of magic is that the world is composed of words. If you know the words that make up the world, you can make whatever you desire."
One of the most powerful persuasion tools is the use of questions. Influencing someone to purchase from you requires skill. There is a life coaching model called THE G.R.O.W. model that can be borrowed from the coaching field and applied to the sales field.
The acronym GROW stands for Goal, Reality, Options, and a Way Forward.
Goal: If you are speaking with a client on the phone or in person, you should establish the purpose of the conversation immediately. This is your Northstar. At this stage, you’re trying to determine the client's desired outcome. So you ask questions like “ What’s your goal or outcome for this meeting?” Don’t assume anything. It has put me in trouble. From clients not paying me.
Reality: At this stage, you’re trying to understand how things are going with the client. You’re not trying to sell, fix, give advice, or solve a problem. This stage helps the client become aware of the nature and scope of their problems. Your job at this stage is to facilitate the client to understand their problems.
Options: Once the client’s business reality has been established the conversation will inevitably turn to what can be done to solve the problem. This is when you introduce your product as an effective option to solve their problems for a fee
The way forward: This is the final step when you take the client on the next steps to solve their problems. Like click a link, transfer money, or Bumpa it Get Bumpa
Do not proceed with this sales process if you discover that the client does not admit they have a problem or denies their reality. You will waste your time
