I interviewed Dr. Olumide Emmanuel on my podcast and here is the transcript. It took me years to get this interview but you can get it now for free
Differences Between Rich and Wealthy
Paul and Dr. Emmanuel discussed the differences between being rich and being wealthy. Dr. explained that wealth is asset-based and includes more than just money—relationships, health, experience, and goodwill are all essential. He emphasized that simply having money doesn’t guarantee wealth; one needs the wisdom to manage and grow it. Paul agreed, highlighting how people can win the lottery and become rich, but not necessarily wealthy.
Financial Intelligence and Self-Development
Dr. Emmanuel stressed that financial intelligence and self-development are key to managing wealth. He shared the story of Jubake, a young woman who fell back into poverty due to poor financial management, illustrating that internal development is critical for attracting external wealth. Paul agreed, emphasizing how many people prioritize quick money over long-term growth. Dr. concluded that one must become rich within to attract wealth externally.
Understanding Needs for Success and Significance
Dr. Emmanuel spoke about the importance of understanding one's own needs and mindset for success and significance. He referred to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, highlighting the importance of addressing survival needs before progressing to higher goals. Dr. emphasized the necessity of rising above a survival mindset to achieve impact and value-driven goals.
Mindset Shift for Wealth and Success
Dr. emphasized that achieving wealth and success requires focusing on offering value and making an impact, rather than merely accumulating wealth. He shared stories of mentees who transformed their lives by helping others and focusing on solving problems. He also advised not caring about who gets the credit and making a difference in others' lives.
Creating Wealth with the Right Mindset
Dr. discussed the importance of having the right mindset and using God’s empowerment to create wealth. He shared his personal transformation in 1997, when he realized that love and good intentions alone are not enough for wealth creation. Paul shared an example of his mother, a loving churchgoer who, despite her good intentions, never became wealthy.
Real Estate's Power in Nigeria
Dr. emphasized that real estate is a powerful vehicle for wealth creation in Nigeria, regardless of the economic climate. He explained how real estate serves as a store of wealth and helps protect against inflation and devaluation. Dr. shared that starting as a realtor is a great entry point for anyone interested in the real estate sector, even with limited resources.
Addressing Poverty in Nigeria
Dr. explained that poverty in Nigeria is a mindset and lifestyle issue rooted in ignorance and spiritual disconnect. He argued that understanding the dimensions of poverty and addressing its root causes is essential to breaking the cycle. He also discussed the role of religion in perpetuating poverty, noting that many practice Christianity as a religion, rather than as a relationship with their Creator.
Addressing Poverty and Laziness
Dr. pointed out that ignorance and laziness are the primary causes of poverty. He argued that prayer alone cannot solve these issues; knowledge and action are necessary. Dr. used the example of Nigeria’s crude oil reserves, yet its inability to refine the oil, illustrating how ignorance and laziness can prevent productive outcomes.
Impact of Books on Dr.'s Life and Business
Dr. shared how his book, Reach That Border, had a significant impact on his life and business, leading to financial gains and personal growth. Paul asked about Dr.’s time management given his many responsibilities, to which Dr. credited his success to the grace of God.

Dr. highlighted the importance of time management and prioritization in achieving success. He shared his system for categorizing tasks into must-do, should-do, and can-do, delegating accordingly. Dr. also emphasized the importance of punctuality and planning, demonstrating how he balances work, personal life, and family commitments. Paul agreed, recognizing the role of time management in his own work with high-profile clients.
Business Evolution and Marketing Strategies

He emphasized the importance of educational marketing, understanding one’s product, and building a strong brand. Dr. also shared insights on his 35 years in ministry and the release of his new book, Ministers, Mistakes, and Ministry.
