How to be CONSISTENT- 4 Ways to finish what you start- Even if you're a procrastinator or lazy
Many people struggle with staying consistent. They start a health, wealth, or relationship project with enthusiasm, and they become inconsistent 20 days down the road. Can you relate? It’s 6 months into 2022 now and I bet you’re currently struggling to stay consistent in an area of your life or business and it is costing you something.
So how do you stay consistent? Before I answer that let’s briefly talk about your limiting belief about consistency
Some people believe that you must be in the mood to remain consistent.
“Someone once asked William Faulkner: When do you do your writing? He replied: "I write only when I'm inspired. Fortunately, it strikes at 9 AM sharp every morning."
You schedule consistency, you don’t wait or wish for it to happen
THE 4 WAYS
LABEL YOURSELF: What aspect of your life do you want to stay consistent with? sales, health, relationship, or social. After you get specific then start calling yourself that. I have written 140 articles since I began to THE FOH LETTERS newsletter so I call myself a writer. That’s the way I see myself so that label forces me to behave CONSISTENTLY with what it stands for. WRITERS WRITE. If you call yourself a FIT PERSON you’ll start behaving that way. WE BEHAVE OUR LABELS
START WITH BABY STEPS: Start the thing you’ll want to be consistent at with the smallest steps and grow into it. Instead of 30 minutes workout do 5 minutes, instead of 10 sales calls a day do 5. When you stay consistent on the small steps then momentum will kick in and nobody will inform you on when to take it up a bit higher
TELL PEOPLE: Announce your label. Go around your office and house telling people you’re a writer, fitness dude or gal, salesperson, etc. This is so that when your behavior doen’’t match your announcement they’ll CALL YOU OUT Humans have a tendency to stay consistent with the image that they project to the world. If you pretend to be it, you may eventually become it.
REWARD IT: Whenever you stay consistent for a certain period, buy yourself a gift as a reward for being consistent.
