According to Techopedia, a cheat code is generally a code, method or device used by gamers to advance levels or to get other special powers and benefits in a video game. The term cheat code can also be used to denote anything a person does other than the traditional way of doing something for the purpose of winning or scoring above their competition

Do you want to get the codes to win the competition? accelerate your business? or increase the quality of your life? Then aggressively embrace reading.

Do not admire the successful, seek the books or pieces of knowledge that shaped their lives in other words find out their cheat codes.

WHAT DETERMINES WHAT YOU SHOULD READ?

The gaps in your life and business are what should determine the books you read, podcasts you listen to or youtube videos you watch.

Which areas of your business are you dropping the ball? Let’s say your sales are not looking good the next question will be which aspect of sales are you struggling with? Is it

1. Getting leads

2. Closing the acquired leads

3. Nurturing the leads acquired

4. Creating content

What is the problem? When you identify the problem then start getting books or chapters of books that address your problems

COUNTING THE NUMBER OF BOOKS YOU HAVE FINISHED IS A VANITY METRIC

You don’t have to finish a book! Yes, the Bible that has changed your life and behaviour have you ever finished it cover to cover? I have not read the bible from cover to cover but hmmm it has radically shaped and changed my worldview.

Am I saying it is wrong to finish a book, NO? I read a lot of books but I don’t finish all I read chapters or sections that address my GAPS. Release your soul of the burden of unfinished books

HOW TO RETAIN WHAT YOU READ

There are two primary ways to retain and integrate what you learn from a book: Taking notes, teaching the concept, and taking action. What’s the point of reading when you’re not taking action on the knowledge received?

HOW I RETAIN WHAT I READ

1. I use an app called NOTION to take notes. On the app, I save quotes, words, and lessons I learn from books

2. I implement the relevant lessons immediately into my life and business (Like this newsletter you’re reading that I have done CONSISTENTLY FOR 1YEAR 6 MONTHS)

3. I listen to any podcast or youtube video that the author of the book has been interviewed. Like I am currently reading BOUNCE by Matthew Syed and Steven Bartlett had a fascinating interview with him on his podcast ‘DIARY OF A CEO’ here’s a link to it DIARY OF A CEO That conversation strengthened my knowledge of the subject matter
