Why do you think peop[le buy things? Yes, I know your default setting will walk unblocked to the features of the product or the service. Some of the reasons why people buy stuff are too shameful so they won’t tell you. They buy because
They bought that car, not because of movement but to tell their neighbor in the estate that they too have arrived
They bought that chicken because their social media hero said she is using it
They bought ‘KAYAMATTA’ Because they want to tell their girlfriend or wives how sexually hot they are
They bought that toothpaste because their dentist or the dentist they follow on Instagram recommended it
You see humans are gregarious beings, humans are social beings, and humans are herd creatures. Yes, a person can lock themselves in their house with the blinds down yet, the behaviors, beliefs, and biases of the social community they belong to have been tattooed in their souls.
Have you noticed if a popular musician, influencer, actor, etc dresses in a certain way, their followers tend to do the same
This is why as entrepreneurs or professionals if you can uncover the leader of the tribe or community that your target audience belongs to, and then influence the tribe leader you will influence members of that tribe.
In Nigeria, on the package of most good toothpaste, you will see the words engraved boldly ‘ ENDORSED BY THE DENTAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA’ This is a big psychological move because as humans we defer a lot to the opinions of people in authority in our lives. If a doctor says it’s good then it’s good.
In 1916 Nathan Hndwerkers hotdog business was struggling, even when he reduced his price from 10 Cents to 5 Cents. Until he got a profit growing idea, and the idea was he paid certain doctors to wear their lab coats, buy his hotdog and stand around and outside his stand to eat. And boom his sales started growing.
The business is still in existence today
The application is, find the leader of the people you want to influence, pay, beg, or cry top them to endorse your product if they do, your sales may improve.
