ANCHORING THE MINDS OF YOUR CLIENTS AND BOSS TO DO WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO DO

There are marketers and politicians that understand the architecture of making decisions so well that they use it for their gain. Don’t worry today, I will reveal one of the decisions making hacks used by these influencers to influence you to buy or vote for them
THE ANCHOR EFFECT OR THE ANCHOR BIAS
At the beginning of a class an Ivy League university professor walked into her class and told all her students to write the last two digits of their phone number on a sheet of paper in front of them, then she asked them to write their best estimate of the number of African countries in the united nations.
She found out that students that have a higher last two digits of their phone number offered a higher number of African countries in the united nations, while those with a lower last two digits of their phone number offered a lower estimate of African countries in the united nations! WOW
WHY?
The reason is because of a thing called THE ANCHORING EFFECT. It basically means that the first piece of information we are exposed to often influences our relationship with subsequent information.
The first information sets an anchor that causes us to either adjust our subsequent conclusions upwards or downwards.
ANCHOR EFFECT IN PRICING AND SELLING YOURSELF
I got a call to do a sales coaching session for a company after selling them on the value of the sales training session they asked me the price. I told them $5,000 USD (Now I know that I can give the talk for around $2- $2,500,000 USD) they begged and said ‘Please can we do $2,000?” I said yes and boom they paid. That is what I call PRICE ANCHORING.
The first price I mentioned anchored them to adjust lower to my intended price and not below. But what if I had told them, $1,000 USD you guessed right they would have priced me $500 USD
DRESS TO ANCHOR
When you meet a client or date for the first time, what you wear can serve as an anchor on how they perceive you. Dress well so that they can anchor you upwards and not downwards
